University of Connecticut basketball coach Jim Calhoun is a passionate golfer who loves everything about the game. But he had one suggestion for improving it, which he shared with about 100 staffers of the United States Golf Association during an informal visit to the organization’s headquarters in Far Hills, N.J.

At its annual meeting December 6th, the CSGA presented the 2011 Distinguished Club Award to the Rolling Hills Country Club in honor of its 50th anniversary and longtime support of the association as a member in good standing and host of competitions. Michael Catanzaro (General Manager), Penny Jones, Glenn Perry (Greens and Grounds Superintendent), Jeff Jones and Greg Rosen (CSGA Club Representative) accepted the award on the club's behalf.

Meriden, Conn -  Dave Szewczul’s win at the Connecticut Senior Amateur Championship last week was thought to have capped off an amazing seven days of tournament golf for the defending CSGA Senior Player of the Year.  However, a win at the Connecticut Public Links Championship would put himself in a position few other have been.

Simbury, Conn. - Dave Szewczul from Tunxis Plantation Golf Course in Farmington completed an amazing seven day stretch of golf by winning the 66^th Connecticut Senior Amateur Championship at Simsbury Farms Golf Course.

Fairfield, Conn. – Frank Bensel from Danbury, Conn. fired his third sub-seventy round to win his second Connecticut Open in the last three years.

Bloomfield, CT – Jim Tierney from Richter Park Golf Club played the most consistent golf of his career over the last three days and came away with his first CSGA major victory.
