How to get a handicap

It’s really simple, just sign up through a Member Club

Every CSGA Member Club is licensed to issue handicap indexes and many public courses offer a "handicap only" service.  USGA Handicap Indexes are issued to individuals only through recognized golf clubs. The USGA Handicap System requires that a golfer be part of a club so that “peer review” is part of the handicap process.

2012 USGA Handicap Seminar

The USGA wants you to know!

How to master the topic of handicapping by attending a seminar to get a behind-the-scenes, all-access-pass from USGA Staff on the intricacies of the USGA Handicap System™. Helpful hints for golfers, golf clubs, and Handicap Committees will be the focus during a series of seminars in an effort to educate golfers on the USGA Handicap System™.

USGA Handicap System Licensing Program for Clubs – 2012-2015

The Licensing Program for Clubs is a requirement for all golf clubs in the United States that issue a Handicap Index to its members. Part of the licensing process includes attending a handicap seminar and passing a quiz. Any club representative can complete this requirement on behalf of its golf club, and must do so before the end of 2015 to remain as a licensed golf club.

Curriculum

The seminar will focus on the content within the new 2012-2015 USGA Handicap System manual. There will be discussions and solutions to common situations that take place within a golf club, and a review of the ever-so important role that the Handicap Committee plays within a golf club. During the seminar, an open-book quiz will be administered. All attendees will receive a certificate acknowledging their accomplishment.
