Dziubina and Lou Stone Win 5th Tournament of Champions
June
15, 2010 – Seventy-three players teed it up today at the 5th
CSGA Tournament of Champions sponsored by MasterCard and hosted by
Bull’s Bridge Golf Club in South Kent, CT.
The event featured two divisions including club champions
and senior club champions from various CSGA Member Clubs.
Matthew
Dziubina from Race Brook Country Club earned the top spot in the
Club Champion division after a five-under par 67.
He opened his round with a birdie on the first and third
holes and an eagle on the second hole.
Dziubina will earn 100 points toward the Dick Tettelbach
Player of Year. Tied
for the runner-up position was 2009 Player of the Year Jeff Hedden
and 2008 Russell C. Palmer Cup champion Phil Perry who both play
at Black Hall Club. Both
players finished their rounds at two-under par 70.
In
the Senior Club Champion division Lou Stone from New Haven Country
Club captured first place after a one-under par 71.
He was helped by an impressive first nine holes which
featured three birdies and no bogeys.
2009 Tournament of Champions winner David Czaplicki from
Race Brook Country Club shot an even par round of 72 to earn the
runner-up spot.
