CSGA Junior Team to Compete in New England Junior Championship

August 11, 2012 - Williamstown, Mass.

New England Golf AssociationA team of seven outstanding junior golfers will represent Connecticut and the CSGA on August 13 and 14 in the New England Junior Championship. The 54-hole tournament is being played at Taconic Golf Club in Williamstown, Massachusetts. Recognized as one of the best golf courses in New England, and one of the top college courses in the country, Taconic is the home course of Williams College.

The New England Golf Association hosts the stroke play competition in which the team score is the sum of the low five of seven scores in each round. The six New England teams will play 36 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday to determine the champion.  Massachusetts won the championship in 2011 in a rain-shortened event. Connecticut won in 2010 and has captured seven of the past eleven titles.

Representing Connecticut and the CSGA:

Brian Butler - Wampanoag CC

Runner-up in 2011 CSGA Junior Amateur; won 2012 Long Island Junior Classic; won 2012 CT State High School Championship; qualified for 2012 USGA Junior Amateur.

Brian Carlson - Clinton CC

Won 2012 AJGA Killington Junior; tied 2nd in Long Island Junior Classic; tied 5th in 2012 Stan Trojanowski Northern Junior; tied 41st in 2012 Callaway Junior World; tied 3rd in 2012 Golfweek New England Junior.

Eric Dietrich - Farms CC

Won 2012 Francis Ouimet Challenge Cup Junior; tied 13th in AJGA Deutsch Bank; won Cas Coscina Memorial Junior; currently ranked #2 in CT PGA Section Junior Rankings.

Evan Grenus - Glastonbury Hills CC

Tied 2nd in 2012 CT PGA Section Championship, Quarter-finalist in 2012 CSGA Junior Amateur; tied 5th in 2012 Stan Trojanowski Northern Junior; currently ranked #3 in CT PGA Section Junior Rankings.

Patrick Hallisey - Shuttle Meadow CC

3rd in 2012 Computer Merchant Cup, tied 13th in AJGA Killington Junior, runner-up in 2012 CSGA Junior Amateur; tied 2nd in 2012 Stan Trojanowski Northern Junior.

Eddie Hill - Crestbrook Park GC

Won Ryan Lee Memorial Junior; tied 2nd in CT PGA Section Championship; Quarter-finalist in 2012 CSGA Junior Amateur; currently ranked #5 in CT PGA Section Junior Rankings.

Jason Hogan - Watertown GC

Medalist in 2012 CSGA Men's Amateur qualifying; tied 6th in 2012 CT PGA Section Championship; semifinalist in 2012 CSGA Junior Amateur.
